Global warming causes streams and lakes too warm at a spirally rate, this action alone creates a couple of problems for fish.
In the Spring-
- The first problem being that the warming streams don’t have as much oxygen for the fish and other animals to survive.
- The second problem being drought, with the water warming it allows for the streams to dry up much easier. This allows prey to easily watch and eat the fish, and it forces the fish to move out toward deeper water in lakes. Lakes aren’t a great place for Salmon and other fish to lay their eggs.
Both of these examples above create other issues for people in a small town. During spring Rangeley isn’t extremely busy but most people that go visit during that time are fishermen. For small convenience store types of business with gas keeps they going during their slow time. The fishing industry has always been a large on but as the climate changes it seems as though not many more people fish the lakes and streams.
